# Software

### Stardust

[Stardust ](https://github.com/StardustOS)is a minimal kernel that targets virtualised x86-64 computer system architectures and runs on the [Xen](http://www.xenproject.org/developers/teams/hypervisor.html) hypervisor. It also provides a preemptive threads scheduler and supports standard POSIX threads. Please consult this [guide ](/stardust/getting-started.md)on how to get started.

### Duster

[Duster ](https://github.com/StardustOS/duster)is a small debugger for paravirtual Unikernels written in C which run on the Xen hypervisor and has been designed to assist the development and debugging of Stardust.

### Related Packages

Currently, we are in the process of organising software artefacts related to packages that can be compiled and linked with Stardust such as a light-weight Java interpreter used for experimental purposes, alongside external libraries that support standard functions, file systems, and networking. Some packages can be found at [Github](https://github.com/StardustOS) while other packages will become available as soon as possible. Please watch this space for more updates.

## Querying This Documentation
If you need additional information that is not directly available in this page, you can query the documentation dynamically by asking a question.

Perform an HTTP GET request on the current page URL with the `ask` query parameter, and the optional `goal` query parameter:

```
GET https://stardustos.gitbook.io/stardust/software.md?ask=<question>&goal=<endgoal>
```

`ask` is the immediate question: it should be specific, self-contained, and written in natural language.
`goal` is optional and describes the broader end goal you are ultimately trying to accomplish on behalf of the user. GitBook uses it to tailor the answer towards what is most useful for that goal.

The response will contain a direct answer to the question and relevant excerpts and sources from the documentation.

Use this mechanism when the answer is not explicitly present in the current page, you need clarification or additional context, or you want to retrieve related documentation sections.
